Bangladesh won the toss and opt to bat first. The Bangladesh legends clearly showcased their rusty performance. Bengal Tigers manage to score mere 98 runs in 19.4 overs. Dhiman Ghosh (22) was the highest scorer though he didn’t score any boundaries. However, Krishna Santokie (3 for 7 runs) and Darren Powel 4 runs in 3 overs were the star bowlers.

West Indies with no pressure wrap up the innings in less than 16 overs. Dwayne Smith (51) sailed away the West Indian ship seamlessly alongside a handy knock from Krirk Edwards.

Abdul Razzak, Dolar Mahmud & Alok kapali share one wicket each. However Shahadat Hossain, Sharif and Hasan went wicket less.

Darren Powell was chosen as Man of the match for his spell of 4 runs in 3 overs and a maiden over. He had a staggering economy of 1.33 runs per over

ROAD Safety World series so far has had high scoring and low scoring games but still lacks the entertainment factor. Fans, on one side get a chance to witness legends play, but also want thr t20 saga to shine.

Next in Road Safety World Series, Sri Lanka Legends will face Australi Legends at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. Sri Lanka Legends will be led by Tilakratne Dilshan. Whereas, Australia Legends will be led by Shane Watson.

India beat West Indies in a thrilling T20 to seal the series by 2-0 https://wrestlinghour.com/india-beat-west-indies-in-a-thrilling-t20-to-seal-the-series-by-2-0/ https://wrestlinghour.com/india-beat-west-indies-in-a-thrilling-t20-to-seal-the-series-by-2-0/#respond Fri, 18 Feb 2022 18:26:26 +0000 https://sportspandora.com/?p=427 In the 2nd T20 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India beat West Indies by 8 runs to win the series. India’s all-round performance helps them win the 3 match series by 2-0 with one game to play.

West Indies won the toss and opt to field first given the due factor. India batting first had a shaky start as they kept losing wickets at a regular Interval. Virat Kohli found his long-lost form and stabilized the innings along with Rishabh Panth and Venkatesh Iyer. Kohli played a fiery knock of 52 along with Rishabh pant and Venkatesh Iyer scoring 52 and 33 respectively.

A strong performance from the middle-order helped India post a fighting 186 for the loss of 5 wickets. West Indies Innings kicked off in the same fashion (losing quick wickets). They seem to be losing their grip when Powell and Pooran stitched the wounded batting lineup. Both the players played a reviving Innings to punch in some air in the game. Nicholas Pooran added 62 of 41 balls to spicy up the drama.

Death Overs Drama

Rovman Powell made sure to take the match to the final over. Until the 18th over the game swung like a pendulum till Pooran lost his wicket to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Everything boils down to the last 4 balls when they needed 23 of the remaining 4 balls. Rovman Powell slams back-to-back sixes off Harshal Patel in 2 consecutive deliveries. Patel mixed his pace which eventually left Powell scoring a mere single.

Needing 10 off the last ball, Pollard defends like a test shot to score a single as he gave a Shere example of a truce on a battlefield. India beat West Indies by 8 runs to win the 3 match series by 2-0. Rishabh Pant won the Man of the Match accolade for his scintillating performance of 52 runs off 28 balls. The 3rd and Final T20 will be played on 20th Feb in Eden Gardens.

Bravo takes a funny jibe at Kieron Pollard https://wrestlinghour.com/bravo-takes-a-funny-jibe-at-kieron-pollard/ https://wrestlinghour.com/bravo-takes-a-funny-jibe-at-kieron-pollard/#respond Fri, 11 Feb 2022 08:30:48 +0000 https://sportspandora.com/?p=369 Something that Kieron Pollard would wish to forget from recent times is his drastic show of play in India.

Hours before the final ODI encounter between India and Wear Indies, former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took a jibe at his team-mate after sharing a missing poster via his Instagram handle.

Pollard could play only one game in which he got dismissed by a googly via Yuzavendra Chahal. Since then he’s out and missing due to a niggle problem.

Many players such as, Sammy, Fidel Edwards and format Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh commented on the post. The post has gone viral on the internet and is being joked about a lot.

Inclusion of Kieron Pollard in the final ODI is still doubtful. The 3rd ODI will be played at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

India has already wrapped up the series after winning first 2 ODI’s in a convincing fashion.

West Indies have a lot to play the game is not just about pride and honor. They are more focused on attaining valuable points for the ICC Super League. They’re currently placed 9th on the points table with 50 points in 3 matches.

Experimentation set to continue as India seek 3-0 finish https://wrestlinghour.com/experimentation-set-to-continue-as-india-seek-3-0-finish/ https://wrestlinghour.com/experimentation-set-to-continue-as-india-seek-3-0-finish/#respond Fri, 11 Feb 2022 03:43:42 +0000 https://sportspandora.com/?p=359 “We don’t mind losing a few games while trying out a few things. Because it is important to look at the long-term goals. We will see what works out well for the team combination (for the final ODI),” Rohit Sharma said after India wrapped up the three-match ODI series against the West Indies with a resounding win in the second game.

Rohit and Co. know that they have to evaluate the players based on how they react to different situations. In the second game, the home side decided to experiment by opening the batting with Rishabh Pant in an attempt to take advantage of the first PowerPlay. Even though the move seems to be a one-off, it gives an indicator that the think-tank is looking to experiment in order to zoom in on the right combination.

The hosts certainly have enough positives to take from the series. Mohammed Siraj bowled with nous and discipline in the first match while Prasidh Krishna has displayed a few more gears to his bowling, bagging a four-for. KL Rahul, who returned for the second game, batted in the middle order and looked in fine touch while facing the West Indies pace trio. His ability to change gears against hit-the-deck bowlers as well as spinners makes him an ideal candidate to bat in the middle order. Suryakumar Yadav too has made use of his opportunities so far. If anything, Virat Kohli would like to convert some of his starts into a hundred. Rohit also would hope to make a substantial contribution.

At the other end, the West Indies camp would be ruing a missed opportunity to level the series. Kemar Roach, Odean Smith and Alzarri Joseph had bowled zestful spells to lay the platform for the batters to provide finishing touches. Unfortunately, once again a familiar knot tied them down and that was the top order failing to click. Even though Shamarh Brooks and Akeal Hosein made useful contributions, the duo had too much to do. The West Indies need a batting renaissance and it has to happen soon.

The one silver lining for the visitors was Smith shining brightly. With a relatively short run-up, he can generate a good burst of pace. It can take time for a batter’s muscle memory to adjust to a bowler who bowls at speeds in excess of 140 kph with a short run-up. Smith also showcased glimpses of his hitting prowess lower down the order. In fact, in the recently-concluded ODI series versus Ireland, one of his massive hits had dented the car of West Indies fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell.

A victory in the final game of the series would revitalize the West Indies camp ahead of the T20Is. There are also 10 World Cup Super League points up for grabs.

When: Friday, February 11, 2022, 1.30 PM local time

Where: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

What to expect:

The weather forecast predicts clear skies and no chance of rain. For the second game, the red soil pitch – with some grass cover – was used. So the seamers were able to extract more life out of the surface. Once again the nature of the soil could determine the conditions for the final game. The dew played a role in the first ODI but didn’t come into the picture during the second game.

Team News:

India: Shikhar Dhawan, who has recovered from Covid-19, is set to return to the playing XI. Shreyas Iyer, who has also taken part in training sessions, is in the mix. India may also look to rotate the spinners with Kuldeep Yadav getting an opportunity in the final match.

Possible XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur/Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal/Kuldeep Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna.

West Indies: Regular skipper Kieron Pollard didn’t play the second match with a niggle. The tourists may opt to rest Pollard for the last game and give Odean Smith another chance to showcase his talents.

Possible XI: Brandon King, Shai Hope (wk), Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, Nicholas Pooran (c), Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Fabien Allen, Odean Smith, Alzarri Joseph, and Kemar Roach

What they said:

“I have been asked to try different things, so that was something different (on Pant opening). We wanted to try it one game and is not a permanent thing. Shikhar should be back for the next game,” Rohit Sharma in the post-match presentation.

INDIA BEAT WEST INDIES BY 6 wickets in the first ODI to go up 1-0 in 3 match ODI series. https://wrestlinghour.com/india-beat-west-indies-by-6-wickets-in-the-first-odi-to-go-up-1-0-in-3-match-odi-series/ https://wrestlinghour.com/india-beat-west-indies-by-6-wickets-in-the-first-odi-to-go-up-1-0-in-3-match-odi-series/#respond Tue, 08 Feb 2022 06:53:31 +0000 https://sportspandora.com/?p=331 After a disastrous tour to South Africa, the men in blue returned home with a new challenge up their hands. India is set to play 3 one day internationals against the visiting West Indies.

Rohit Sharma the new limited-overs captain is back in the camp and has a big task up his sleeves.

India was all set to play their first game against the touring West Indies at the Narendra Modi stadium. After winning the toss, India chose to bowl first.

Sluggish start

Batting first, West Indies could not handle the tricky Ahmedabad pitch. Batsmen headed back to the pavilion as soon as they took their guard.

West Indies’ batting lineup fell like a deck of cards. In no time West Indies were down to 79 for the loss of 7 wickets.

Jason Holder and Fabian Allen made a healthy partnership of 79 runs. Holder scored a handy 57 run knock to stabilize the team but the returning Yuzi Chahal had other plans in his mind.

West Indies managed 176 runs before being bundled up in 44 overs.

2nd Innings

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave India a solid start by adding 84 runs in just 13 overs before Sharma was found to be LBW by Alzarri Joseph. West Indies then took two quick wickets with the hope to return to the game. But it was too late to turn the tides as Surya Kumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda sailed the Indian ship to victory shores and beat West Indies in the 1st ODI by 6 wickets in what was almost a one-sided affair. Yuzavendra Chahal was chosen to be the Man of the Match for his brilliant performance. He took 4-49 in his allotted set of overs. India will play the 2nd ODI on 9th February 2022 at the same venue. The game will start at 1:30 PM IST.
