The 2024 Royal Rumble is the 37th edition of the elite event Royal Rumble. St Petersburg, Florida, is the host at Tropicana Field. However, it is the second all-time Royal Rumble at this venue, along with 2021. 

Bayley On X names Rhea Ripley as her opponent for WrestleMania. 

2024 Royal Rumble winner Bailey took to X ( formerly known as Twitter) and threw a challenge to Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley for her World Title at WrestleMania. Ripley, who won the 2023 Royal Rumble, won the coveted championship at the flagship event, WrestleMania 39. Moreover, on Twitter, Bayley wrote, “ I beat @RheaRipley_WWE’s record, now I’m ready to beat her at #WrestleManiaXL. 

Bayley not only won the Royal Rumble but also broke the in-ring record of Rhea Ripley for the longest time in a Royal Rumble match. Ripley recorded 1 hour, 1 minute and 8 seconds in 2023. However, her record was taken over by returning Naomi, and later, Bayley recorded an all-time high with 1 hour, 3 minutes and 3 seconds. 

Rhea suggests an Iron Women Match at WrestleMania. 

Responding to Bayley’s challenge, Ripley suggested an Iron Women match for the Women’s World Title at WrestleMania. Evidently, Bayley also gives it her approval, emphasising that she’s already one up in such matches.

Interestingly, nothing has been finalised from the WWE creative point of view. However, such posts on X are most likely part of storylines and will eventually become a main event. 

Royal Rumble marks an all-time high attendance at Tropicana Field.

The 37th edition of the Royal Rumble in St. Petersburg recorded high attendance in Tropicana Field. WWE announced a record attendance of 48,044 during the event.

The Year 2023 was filled with many comebacks and surprises for the fans, from the return of CM Punk after a hiatus of almost a decade to the highly anticipated comeback of Apex Predator Randy Orton. However, one name that always comes up during the WrestleMania season is Brock Lesnar.

Rumours surrounding Brock Lesnar’s Return 

Many sources prominent in the professional wrestling corridors speculate that Brock Lesnar will return during the Royal Rumble week or on the event day. However, the former World Heavy Weight Champion made his last appearance for WWE back in Summer Slam. Lesnar was in a storyline with Cody Rhodes, which ended in a loss for the beast incarnate.

Brock Lesnar is no doubt a box-office attraction for WWE. Whenever McMahons needed a money magnet, Creatives would book Lesnar’s name on match cards for the event. Moreover, if Brock makes a comeback at the event, he will possibly be in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match.

Seeing Lesnar Square off with CM Punk after more than ten years will be interesting. The last time CM Punk and Brock Lesnar came face to face was back in the 2013 SummerSlam. However, Former UFC Champion Lesnar went victorious on the given night.

Previous Royal Rumble performances of Brock Lesnar

In 2023, Lesnar entered the Royal Rumble at the number 8 spot. However, Bobby Lashley eventually eliminated him in under two and a half minutes. In Wrestlemania, Lesnar was involved in a storyline with the up-and-rising star Gunther.

The Year 2022 was a record-making year for Brock Lesnar. He participated in the 30-Man Royal Rumble and won it, entering at number 30. However, earlier that night, He lost his coveted title to Bobby Lashley. Lesnar ended up being the only superstar in the event’s history to lose the title and win the tournament the same night.

In 2021, Brock Lesnar did not make it to the list of superstars who were on the match cards or the classic 30-Man Royal Rumble. Similar was the case for WrestleMania. The superstar was not on either of the match cards for the first time since his return to WWE in 2012.

It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold as time passes. Lesnar returning itself is a boost to hype the event. 

Since its inception in 1988, the Royal Rumble has evolved into an eagerly anticipated extravaganza. Moreover, inspired by the traditional Battle Royal format, this annual event features 30 or more WWE Superstars battling it out for an opportunity at championship glory. Evidently, Over the years, the Royal Rumble has become synonymous with excitement and unpredictability.

Match Type, Importance and Best Performers in Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble match itself is a true spectacle. Superstars enter the ring at timed intervals, and the only way to be eliminated is by being thrown over the top rope with both feet touching the floor. However, the last remaining competitor standing is declared the winner and receives the ultimate prize: a championship opportunity on the grand stage of WrestleMania.

The event holds immense significance within WWE’s calendar. It marks the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania, where the winner of the titular match earns a guaranteed championship match at WrestleMania, the grandest stage of them all. Winning the Royal Rumble often propels a WWE Superstar to the pinnacle of success at WrestleMania. Remarkably, many Royal Rumble winners have capitalized on their championship opportunity, heading into WrestleMania and capturing the ultimate prize. Moreover, the event has served as a launching pad for future legends, solidifying its status as a career-defining moment for the victors.

However, certain Superstars have stood out for their extraordinary ability to eliminate opponents during the Royal Rumble match. Notably, Kane holds the record for the most eliminations in a single match, astonishingly sending 11 adversaries over the top rope in the 2001 edition. His imposing presence and dominant performance remain etched in the event’s lore.
