“It was a tough race, especially the last 10, 15 laps, when I had no grip anymore,” Verstappen said after the race. “It’s very difficult when the tires are not working anymore, and you have to go flat out. I couldn’t afford to make too many mistakes.”

The win extends Verstappen’s lead in the championship standings to 48 points over Charles Leclerc, who finished third for Ferrari. This victory marks Verstappen’s fifth win in seven races this year, showcasing the dominance of the Red Bull team and the exceptional skill of the Dutch driver.

Triumphant Max Verstappen at Rainy Zandvoort

Red Bull’s number 1 and defending champion, Verstappen, begins strongly from the pole position. However, rain intervenes before drivers can leave the starting grid, prompting early pit stops and a significant leaderboard shift. Multiple pit stops and corner chaos follow, normalizing once skies clear and tracks dry.

Fernando Alonso ends his podium hiatus, securing second place after his last podium at the Canadian GP. Despite multiple opportunities, Sergio Perez falls short of the top 3 again. Perez loses control on a wet track, slipping to 3rd place. Perez’s tire change pit stop coincides with Zhou Guanyu’s wall crash, leading to a Red Flag.

As per revised FIA rules, Perez restarts from 3rd but receives a 5-second penalty for a faulty restart. Eventually, he drops to fourth place behind Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.

A Tale of Strategy Errors and Technical Glitches

While Red Bull Racing and Verstappen enjoy a dream season, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc face challenges. Starting 9th, Leclerc steadily advances, but car floor damage leads Ferrari to withdraw from the race, resulting in a DNF. Sainz finishes fifth, earning points for the red team.

Interestingly, for Mercedes, despite Russell’s promising start and the intense fight by Lewis Hamilton, team strategy errors prevent podium placements. As a consequence, both drivers miss out. Though Russell fails to earn points, Hamilton secures a valuable 8 points with a 6th-place finish.

A great driver is equally as great as good his car is. Evidently, teams invest a huge chunk of their budget into car development. In an interview to a renowned broadcaster, F1 legends gives his opinion on when should FIA allow teams to develop their cars. Further, he says, there must be a specific time as to when the teams can start developing their cars. However, he reasons it by stating as to avoid any disadvantage to other teams. Interestingly the F1 legend is nonother than Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton, a legendary figure in Formula One, has redefined the sport with his unparalleled talent, determination, and sheer speed. From his sensational debut to his record-breaking achievements, Hamilton has consistently demonstrated his prowess on the track. Transitioning seamlessly between teams, he has overcome challenges and emerged victorious, showcasing his remarkable adaptability. With his exceptional racecraft and unwavering focus, Hamilton has captivated fans worldwide, leaving a lasting impact on the sport’s history.

Lewis Hamilton asks FIA to introduce new rules on Car Development

Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion in Formula One in an interview with SkySports says “I think the FIA should probably put a time when everyone is allowed to start developing on the next year’s car”. The former champions says this because Red Bull has already started working on their next season car development. However, Hamilton believes this gives an unfair advantage to one particular team. Mercedes drivers thinks FIA should give a date as and when can teams start developing their cars for next season. Speaking further he says “So August 1, that’s when everybody can start so then no one can get an advantage on the next year, cause that s***s”.

Red Bull have symbolically got wings this season on their cars, as they have won all the 8 races this season. Moreover, Max Verstappen is leading the Drivers Championship by over 69 points to his nemesis and Teammate Sergio Perez. However, Alonso is third with nine points deficit to Perez, Followed by Hamilton 93 points behind dutchman.

However, in the Constructors Championship Red Bull Racing are on top with 321 points leading to number 2 Mercedes by over 150 points. Third in place are the dark horses of the season Aston Martin with 154 points. Given the touch the car and Alonso are in had Stroll performed well, Aston Martin would be sailing at second spot. Mercedes were able to grab podiums in last tow races in Canada and Barcelona. Lewis believes the car is very well upgraded and no further developments is required. If things go right they will be able to catch Red Bull by the season end.

Lewis Hamilton did enjoy the advantage with Mercedes previously

This is not the first time that a team has got an advantage over the other. Before Lewis also enjoyed the benefits of Car Development rule with Mercedes and so did Vettle while racing for Red Bull. However, the legends says just to avoid such incidents in future FIA must bring in new rules. Seeking the reactions of defending Champion Verstappen, He says, “Life is unfair, as well. So it’s not only in Formula 1,”

The champion also said these questions weren’t asked when they were in the same position so this should be a talking point now also. Talking about the 2023 season as of now there seem to be no competition for Red bull and Verstappen. Even the budget cut did not have any effect on the performance of the team. Many wonder what else they could have do if they had the full budget.
