Recent reports have shed light on the company’s spending on talent contracts, which totals approximately $104 million per year. This figure has sparked discussions about the company’s financial strategy and the value of its talent roster.

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is a professional wrestling promotion founded in 2019 by CEO Tony Khan. AEW is known for its high-energy matches, diverse roster, and innovative storytelling. The company has quickly become a major player in the wrestling industry, drawing millions of viewers to its weekly television shows, “AEW Dynamite” and “AEW Rampage.” AEW’s roster includes some of the biggest names in wrestling, such as Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley, as well as up-and-coming stars like Darby Allin and MJF. The company has also made waves with its crossover events, such as “AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door,” which brought together top stars from both promotions. With its focus on in-ring action and compelling storylines, AEW has established itself as a must-watch for wrestling fans around the world.

Balancing AEW’s Talent Cost and Profitability

AEW CEO Tony Khan has been actively working to lock up valuable talent to lucrative long-term deals. One example is the recent signing of Rush to a contract, where the money offered was too much for WWE to match. However, despite the high spending on talent, AEW is reportedly close to finalizing a new media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).

The new deal is expected to be worth $110 million per year, which would nearly triple the amount AEW was previously receiving. This would make AEW a profitable company, as the new deal would offset the high costs of talent contracts. The deal is set to be announced imminently, and it will be interesting to see how it affects AEW’s financial strategy going forward.

Concern Over Profitability in AEW

However, there are some concerns about the company’s profitability. Some analysts believe that AEW may still be unprofitable even with the new media rights deal. This is due to the high costs of talent contracts and other expenses. It remains to be seen how AEW will balance its spending on talent with its goal of profitability.

This revelation comes as AEW continues to gain momentum and attract a growing fanbase.

The latest episode of AEW Dynamite, aired on June 19, 2024, featured a highly anticipated match between MJF and Rush. The match received widespread praise from fans and commentators alike, with many applauding the pacing, storyline development, and match quality. The episode also included other notable events, such as Kazuchika Okada interrupting The Acclaimed and a heated face-to-face between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay.

AEW Dynamite Gains Positive Reception From WWE Fans

The positive reception of AEW Dynamite by WWE fans is a testament to the quality of the product being put out by AEW. Despite the ongoing rivalry between the two promotions, it’s clear that wrestling fans are willing to appreciate good content regardless of the source.

AEW Dynamite show

The admission of WWE fans getting goosebumps while watching AEW is a significant development. It shows that AEW is not only attracting new fans but also winning over some of its rival’s most loyal followers. This could potentially lead to a shift in the wrestling landscape, with AEW becoming a more serious competitor to WWE.

A Divide Among Wrestling Fans

However, it’s worth noting that not all WWE fans are jumping on the AEW bandwagon. Some remain loyal to WWE and continue to criticize AEW. This divide among wrestling fans only adds to the excitement and anticipation surrounding future events. One thing to ponder upon this incident is whether we are going to see a shift towards Attitude-Era-like Rivalry between WWE and AEW. If so? Then, it is always the fans who will be on the side of a win-win situation.

AEW WWE Fans

One thing is very clear: when there is competition in the market, then the best products get delivered to the consumers. An avid wrestling fan would always wonder, had there not been Monday Night Wars, would WWE become such a big attraction for the fans?

The legend is known to be a dominant athlete in a wrestling ring and has had many one-sided contests over the years, be it WCW or WWE. A few of his iconic rivalries include names like Triple H, Bret Hart, The Rock and Brock Lesnar to name.

Goldberg, 56, last competed in WWE in 2022, facing off against Roman Reigns at the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event. Despite a loss, the wrestling legend made it clear that a wrestler does not retire until they leave the world. There have been speculations ever since he made his return in WWE 2016. Every match and at every event fans believe that this would be Goldberg’s last appearance in a wrestling ring. However, the legend has always made a surprise appearance on many occasions.

Goldberg is Ready for One More Wrestling Bout

In a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, Goldberg stated that he would be open to having one final match that he can deliver to be a blockbuster but would also be fine with the fact should it not happen.

Speaking on the podcast alongside Buba Ray Dudley, Goldberg said, “I would love to have a final match. I would love to do it in front of my hometown crowd, but I also understand the business of my time in the business has come to an end.” The former WWE Universal Champion also mentioned that he would like to have his final match even outside promotions like WWE and AEW, namedropping a few places like Israel and India for the last encounter.

Goldberg’s openness to having a final match outside of WWE and AEW has sparked interest among fans and wrestling enthusiasts. The dominant Goldberg rose to fame as one of the most intimidating figures in professional wrestling history, and his potential final match is sure to draw attention from fans worldwide.

An Undeserving WWE Hall of Fame Induction

Speaking further, Goldberg also highlights that his Hall of Fame Induction into WWE was a bit undeserving accolade, obviously according to him. The former WWE Universal Champion believes that he was never that much invested in the industry compared to other wrestlers like Buba Ray.

Goldberg Hall of Fame 2018

Goldberg’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame took place in New Orleans at WrestleMania 34, along with Buba Ray, and it was presumed that we might have seen the last of the legend inside a squared circle. However, there might be one last dance left for the WCW legend.

The Battle for Wrestling Supremacy: A Comprehensive Analysis of AEW vs. WWE https://wrestlinghour.com/the-battle-for-wrestling-supremacy-a-comprehensive-analysis-of-aew-vs-wwe/ https://wrestlinghour.com/the-battle-for-wrestling-supremacy-a-comprehensive-analysis-of-aew-vs-wwe/#respond Sun, 28 Apr 2024 16:37:04 +0000 https://sportspandora.com/?p=2173 The world of professional wrestling has witnessed a significant shift in recent years, with the emergence of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a legitimate competitor to the long-dominant World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). This rivalry has sparked intense debate among fans and industry insiders alike, with each company vying for supremacy in terms of ratings, viewership, and talent acquisition. In this article, we will delve into the key differences between AEW and WWE, analyze the current state of the rivalry, and discuss the potential implications for the future of professional wrestling.

AEW WWE

AEW was founded in 2019 by Tony Khan, son of billionaire Shahid Khan. Since its inception, the company has aimed to provide a fresh alternative to WWE’s traditional wrestling product. AEW has garnered a dedicated fanbase and has made significant strides in attracting top talent from around the world, including former WWE stars such as Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley (formerly known as Dean Ambrose), and Cody Rhodes.

Key Differences Between AEW and WWE:

1. Creative Freedom: One of the most significant differences between AEW and WWE is the level of creative freedom afforded to wrestlers. In AEW, wrestlers are often given more control over their characters and storylines, allowing for a more authentic and engaging product. In contrast, WWE has a reputation for being more controlling, with the company’s creative team often dictating the direction of storylines and character development.

2. Match Quality and In-Ring Action: AEW places a strong emphasis on in-ring action and match quality, with longer matches and more time dedicated to showcasing the wrestling abilities of its roster. WWE, on the other hand, has traditionally focused on a mix of matches, promos, and backstage segments, which can lead to a more engaging narrative but may leave some viewers longing for a faster-paced product.

3. Ratings and Viewership: While WWE has a long history and a more established presence in the industry, AEW has made significant strides in ratings and viewership, particularly among younger demographics. This has led to increased competition between the two companies, with each striving to produce the most compelling content to attract and retain viewers.

4. Talent Acquisition: Both AEW and WWE have been actively seeking to sign top talent to expand their rosters. WWE has a history of acquiring talents from smaller promotions to expand its roster, but recently, they have moved to hiring only college graduates. However, the acquisition of AEW seems unlikely at this point. Instead, both companies have focused on signing independent wrestlers and established stars from other promotions.

Current State of the Rivalry And Future of Pro Wrestling

The rivalry between AEW and WWE has intensified in recent months, with both companies taking jabs at one another and focusing on improving their respective products. Tony Khan has accused WWE of trying to undermine AEW’s success, while WWE has seemingly increased its focus on providing a more compelling product to compete with AEW.

AEW WWE

The ongoing competition between AEW and WWE has been beneficial for the wrestling industry, leading to increased innovation, talent acquisitions, and improved product quality. As the rivalry continues, it remains to be seen which company will ultimately emerge as the dominant force in professional wrestling.

WWE revamped its NXT program and also rebranded it as NXT 2.0. The legend has not been involved in any storylines neither he is a part of the backstage crew. WWE also has stopped hiring talents from indie promotions which also dilutes the need for Regal being a part of the management.

Chavo Guerrero missing from the AEW roster page https://wrestlinghour.com/chavo-guerrero-missing-from-the-aew-roster-page/ https://wrestlinghour.com/chavo-guerrero-missing-from-the-aew-roster-page/#respond Sat, 05 Mar 2022 16:46:12 +0000 https://sportspandora.com/?p=648 The world of Pro-wrestling is no less than a roller coaster ride. The Player’s removal and inclusion are most of the time a moment of surprise for the fans. In a recent interview with wrestling inc Chavo Guerrero addressed his exclusion from the AEW roster.

The superstar is confused and baffled by the recent updates. His missing tab from the AEW roster was itself news to him. Superstars leaving or joining a particular promotion is nothing less than day-to-day activity. The art of plus-minus is nothing new but does affect the fans if their beloved superstar leaves all of a sudden. The newest addition to this prime list is none other than veteran Chavo Guerrero.

Tony Khan ghosting on Chavo

The veteran also informed that he did call or text Tony khan [AEW owner] but has not got any response from his end. The superstar said he has been working with many billionaires and Tony Khan is not new. He knows how things work and expects at least one call or text in response. He even said “if there’s not plans for me, totally fine, I get it. But answer your phone.” Once there was no response from Tony, the superstar was pissed and later discovers that his name is missing from the AEW roster page.

Once you work with Vince you can deal with anyone- Chavo Guerrero

Chavo Guerrero even went on to cite that “after working with Vince McMahon, you can deal with anybody”. What was more irritating for the superstar is that he was dealing directly with Tony khan and not any Talent Relations guy. This even pissed him off more.

The veteran states that things were great between him and Tony initially. It was his trip downunder, after which relations went down south.

What’s next for Mexican Veteran?

During his interview, Chavo confirms that he is under no contract with the AEW. Initially, he signed a short-term deal that was supposed to extend further. WHat the future holds for the superstar is still a question. As fans, one can wish to see him performing for any other promotion or even AEW if things can sort well.

WWE Wrestlemania is less than 30 days away, it won’t be a surprise if we see him on the main show or even on Raw after Mania. It will be interesting to see where the superstars go next.

What are your thoughts on the situation? Has the news come as a shock to you? Where do you want to see the Mexican perform next?
